Basket Fund for Moldova programme announces projects’ selection

5 projects were selected within the Call for Proposal of the Basket Fund initiative for the years 2012-2013, launched in June of this year by the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) along with Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Moldova.

The main aim of the Basket Fund is to support projects that would correspond to the idea of EU-Moldova Partnership: share valuable experience from European transitions to democracy; develop new partnerships; strengthen the country’s fledgling democracy and show support for the country’s pro-European agenda. At the moment, the Basket Fund consists of financial contribution from Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Moldova, National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic.

There were received 67 projects proposals as an answer to the Basket Fund Call for Proposal. All the projects were reviewed and evaluated by an independent Panel of Experts. As a result of the review process, 12 projects were short-listed and 5 were selected for funding. The size of each project budget is between 14000 and 20000 USD.

The main criteria taken into consideration during the assessment were that projects should be based on the idea of EU-Moldova sustainable Partnership; on sharing knowledge and experience between the partner organizations and that projects should present original and innovative ideas.

Below is the List of Selected Projects:
-    Public Association of Psychologists Tighina in partnership with “Pro Women” Foundation, Romania,  - project “Youth groups for community initiative from Transnistrian region – promoters of civic participation”;
-    National Youth Council from Moldova in partnership with National Youth Council from Romania – project “Transfer of good practices in promotion of co-management principle on local level”;
-    Center for International Communication and Human Rights in partnership with  Center for Youth Development, Moldova and “OZI Media”, Romania – project “Development of local potential of community from Ialoveni rayon through connection to European practices in the field of collaboration between citizens and public structures”;
-    NGO “Solidarity Water Europe in Moldova” in partnership with “Solidarity Water France” - project “Youth for Nirnova in Action”;
-    Public Association “EuSpun” in partnership with Romanian Association for Debate, Oratory and Rhetoric (ARDOR) – project “Closer 2 Oxford @ Republica Moldova”.
